Passive House

Passive House refers to an approach to high performance building. It starts with energy conservation achieved through thermal insulation, airtightness, energy recovery ventilation and efficient heating and cooling systems. A Passive House or Passive Building rigorously applies building science through energy modeling and onsite quality control.

Phius is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization committed to decarbonizing the built environment by making high-performance passive building the mainstream market standard. They publish the Phius CORE and Phius ZERO high performance building standards as well as train and certify design professionals.

As a Phius Certified Consultant (CPHC) Tom provides consulting services to project teams pursuing phius certification for residential, residential multi-family, educational and commercial projects.

As the CPHC we work closely with the project owners, architects and engineers to achieve Design Certification in the appropriate phius standard. Our Services include:

Register the project with Phius

Complete the Phius Criteria Calculator to establish performance targets for the project.

Assist the project team in preparing and evaluating strategies to meet the Phius performance Targets.

Prepare energy models using WUFI Passive

Evaluate potential thermal bridges using THERM

Guide the project through the Phius Project review cycles.
